Randall Kahn, PA, EA
Randy started the business in 1979 under the name of Kahn Bookkeeping and Tax Service reorganizing in 1997 under the current Kahn & Associates, Inc. The Kahn name has been synonymous in Lawrence with outstanding service since the 1950’s. Randy spent most of his youth living in Overland Park, KS, Oconomowoc, WI and Westbrook, ME playing baseball, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. He moved with his family to Lawrence in 1967 and attended Central Jr. High School, Lawrence High School and the University of Kansas.
Randy provides accounting services, individual and business tax preparation and tax planning, estate and trust planning and management, business formation services and much more.
Randy has been active in coaching youth and adult sports, involvement in his children’s schools, and playing and a sponsoring the “Canary” men’s softball team for over 20 years. He enjoys golfing, fishing, cooking, watching KU Basketball and the Royals Baseball and spending time with family and friends.
Marilyn Kahn, PA
Marilyn joined Kahn & Associates, Inc. in 1985 and has been a partner since 1999. She grew up in Lawrence, KS graduating from Lawrence High School in 1973. Prior to joining our firm she attended NCCC and the University of Kansas. Marilyn spent time working in banking, consumer lending management, owning a small daycare business and doing bookkeeping for small businesses while raising her children. She has been very active in her children’s schools, church and community.
Marilyn started with Kahn & Associates, Inc. as an office manager and staff accountant. She provides services in administrative duties, tax preparation, accounting and payroll services. She enjoys gardening, her dog Marley, KU Basketball, cooking and spending time with her friends and family– especially her grandchildren.
Katie Kornbrust Massey, EA, CPP
Katie has been with our team since 2008. She began her career as an intern while she finished her bachelor and master’s degrees at the University of Kansas. Upon finishing her degrees, she started working for the firm fulltime. She obtained her Enrolled Agents License in January of 2013 and her Certified Payroll Professional’s License in October of 2014. She provides services in tax preparation, accounting and payroll. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, taking her dog Roxy to the park, watching KU Basketball and spending time with family and friends.
Karen Ledbetter, Office Coordinator
Karen joined the Kahn & Associates, Inc. team in January 2014. She works full-time during tax season and part-time the remainder of the year. Her responsibilities include e-filing tax returns, answering the phone, greeting clients, setting up appointments and other clerical duties.
Karen was born and raised in a small Northeast Kansas town of 600. After high school she attended Northeast Kansas Vocational Technical School and received a business certification. She worked for 8 years for the State of Kansas in Topeka as an Administrative Assistant and later at the University of Kansas Housing Department as a Secretary and Payroll Clerk. Afterwards she stayed at home with her children and ran a small daycare out of the home for 5 years. In 1990, Karen went to work for a manufacturing company in Lawrence and held the positions of Secretary to the Vice President and General Manager and Assistant Personnel Manager. After 23 years of service, she took early retirement in December 2013 to be more available for her family’s needs.
Karen has an Associates in Business from Baker University and a Bachelor Degree in Personnel Management from Friends University. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and gardening.
Doris Bateson, Receptionist
Doris has been with our team since 1987. She works from January to the 15th of April. She is the friendly face at the reception desk Monday-Friday and has gone to half days as of the 2015. Along with other duties, Doris takes care of scheduling appointments for the preparers, answering the telephone and providing assistance to clients with completed returns.
In her spare time she enjoys working for charitable organizations with the Fraternal Order of Eagles, spending time with her friends and family and just enjoying life.
